Pumpkins for sale

We went to my parent's for Lyric's first 9 month photo shoot and also made a trip to their local pumpkin patch.

New this week:  She claps and she LOVES to dance to her singing bear that Mimi gave her when she was born.  (I'll post the video if I can ever figure out how, so until then...I've posted a picture of Lyric dancing and giving her bear kisses.)  Her appetite has kicked into high gear and she is eating like a champ!  We tried cheddar cheese today and it was love at first bite!  (Like mother like daughter, I guess!)  Also noteworthy news this week is that we are FINALLY sleeping through the night again!  Amen!

At her 9 month well visit, she weighed 16 lbs, 10 oz and is 24" long.

Lyric is 9 months old!

We are so blessed and amazed at everything Lyric has brought to our lives.  This 9 months has come very quickly and she continues to take our breath away every day.  Here is a look at her 8th month.

Da-da Da-da Da-da Da-da, Da!

The day has come!!  Her first word....Da-da!!  My mom and I had just pulled her out of the tub when she started babbling.  We looked at each other and said, 'that sounded like she just said "Da-da"!'...and before we finished that thought, she let out a very clear Da-da.  I ran to get Nick and his first reaction was to say that it didn't count since she is not yet talking to him, or about him.  However, since he has heard it all morning, he agrees that this is officially her first word~time to grab a pen and dust off the baby book!

We took Whatley family portraits for LuLu's birthday, so I'll post the link in a couple of weeks to share.  She, of course, was absolutely adorable in her new little outfit from etsy!  I'll take her out for my own 9 week photoshoot in Austin once it warms up again...hopefully next weekend.

Happy, happy birthday to Pom Pom, LuLu, and Uncle Jeremy!!!

Cold season continues

I wish I could update saying all is well is the great city of Hutto, TX, but this is not the case.  Lyric and I are both coughing up a storm (literally-it has been raining all week) and I am ready for a brighter day.
Since my last post, we went to The Woodlands for my sister's fabulous wedding and we are so happy to have Uncle Daniel as part of our family!  I will try to post some pictures soon...I just have to find some.  Miss Lyric didn't nap that day and couldn't make it through dinner at the reception, so she and Gami wrapped it up and called it a night.  Then, hours later (after the reception was over) Nick and I are headed for the ER, where we would spending the next 5 hours waiting to make sure Lyric did not have pneumonia or a return of the Swine Flu.  Long story short-she is perfectly fine.  My nighttime cold meds are now kicking in so I must say goodnight, sleep tight, and say a prayer for Lyric tonight.

New this week: she is so affectionate and kisses everything in site: herself in the mirror, her books, her toys, her Stassy cat, and many for mom and dad of course!  I always preview my pictures on our camera so I can let her look at herself and she has to kiss every photo-it is adorable!!  At 8 1/2 months, she is moving quicker by the second and zips around furniture.  The other day, I was meeting Nick at the store, and he said to me over the phone-"Well...I found something I think I want."  I immediately think, great!  NBA 2k10 just came out and all we need is another video game!!  To my surprise, he had picked out a little walker lion that she can push around and later ride.  She wants to go so fast with it that we have to sit in front as speed bumps.  (And I must add that she had to give kisses to every toy she laid her eyes on...I can't wait for Christmas!!)

Swine Flu

Most of you know we just recovered from the Swine Flu.  Baby girl is doing very well and didn't let the flu slow her down...you would've never known she was sick by looking at her!  Lyric's Gami came to see us last week and we are so fortunate she was able to stay and help with her.  Thank you Gami!

This is from one of many visits to the doctor

In honor of the Texas vs Tech game today, I've posted the pictures below for Uncle Jeremy.

New this week: I discovered Kid to Kid, a kids consignment shop.  I highly recommend all of you moms find one near you or to come visit us and we'll go to mine.  :)  I bought 8 outfits and a halloween costume for her for $22!! I tried her little fairy costume on right away and discovered it's nearly impossible to get off once it's over her head-I had to cut the strap in order to pull it off!!  No worries, though- I'll have a friend fix it and we are good to go!

We are having to learn to sleep through the night again, after being sick, so say your prayers for us!

Good morning!

The big thing this week is that we had to completely rearrange our living room because our little monkey never stops! She has already had a small bruise on her check, a scratch on her forward, and a mouth injury that made her gums bleed. (The last thing we need is to have the CPS called on us!)
So, what once was a coffee table is now an oversized end table and we had to pull one of our chairs over to block the other side of it. I also brought in her mini rocker so she can tackle and climb on something her own size-she isn't the only one...

Many falls from this table, but she just gets right back up again for more!
I deeply regret not having family portraits of all of us when she was a baby and then when she was about 6 months old (before she could crawl). I'm thinking of having a friend take some now and then I'll have professionals done for her 1st birthday, which seems to be creeping on us very quickly! Any volunteers?
Here is the latest attempt of mine to keep her still while I snap a picture of her. Her look says "I am simply tired of your shenanigans."

More time spent with Stassy and with herself in the mirror:

Also new this week: We bought Lyric a walker!!! She helped dad put it together, then we have another reminder of just how petite she really is...Her poor feet still don't touch the ground; not even with shoes!

Busted!
It's time to take her pretty net down.

Labor day weekend begins

We kick off this weekend with doctor visits for both Lyric and me. Same daycare routine I wish we could break...she gets sick and passes it on. Nothing serious, just typical congestion, runny nose, and cough; I think it bothers us more than her-Lyric is still her happy go lucky self as always. Nick and I are already looking forward to Christmas vacation, which means a couple of weeks break from daycare.

As everyone warned us, Lyric is E V E R Y W H E R E now that she can crawl!! We are amazed at how fast she can move and how intrigued she is by everything she lays her eyes on. Stassy is so good with her and I'll post some pictures of the two of them this weekend.

New this week: She has tried apple juice, cheerios, and has taken her first few steps holding onto furniture.  She weighs 16 lbs and is 25.5" long...and she still fits in her 3-6 month clothes

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Home sweet home

Lyric and I just had an eventful evening. While we supposed to be leaving to go to the first football game of the year, we spent an hour driving around searching for our three dogs that got out. For anyone who has lost a dog, trying to find one is challenge...add 2 more and you've got a feat!! I eventually find Molly and Sweet Girl together and we continued to drive around searching for Dotti. I stopped by the house to drop off the 2 girls and Lyric and I hit the streets again. Sadly, we returned home without Dotti and to my surprise, we go to the backyard and find ALL 3!! I guess Dotti found her way home before I locked up her babies.

Needless to say, we passed on tonight's game and we look forward to next week's. At least I have a week to order the cute hippo onesies from amazon. Go Hippos!!

...and welcome home: Dotti, Miss Molly, and Sweet Girl

Toy store

OH MY GOSH!! I had THE BEST time trying to find a gift for the birthday boy. Lyric was so patient with me and enjoyed every minute...I honestly spent an HOUR browsing the toy aisles at Target. I found myself throwing things in the cart that I want Lyric to have so I had to regroup - put items back on the shelf - and remind myself that I was there for someone else's baby. Who knew they had a sock monkey jack-in-the box?!

Yay, the weekend!

Horray! We made it through our first week of school and she's so happy to be with her friends again. Tomorrow we are going to her friend's first birthday party - hawaiian theme - so I'll be sure to post pictures afterwards.

Gami and Aunt Rainnie came to visit on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was great to see them. The first hour they were here, Lyric couldn't take her eyes off of Rainnie...I think she knows her Aunt Rainnie is going to give her a baby cousin in January!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Back to daycare

Today was Lyric's first day back to school after summer break with Dad and, naturally, they said she was awesome!! :) She was exhausted when she came home and was falling asleep as I was feeding her cereal and veggies. We put her to sleep around 8 so I'm anxious to see if she'll keep up her 11 hours of sleep at night after a big day with her friends.
